Independent Insurance Agents of California

Independent Insurance Brokers - Agents

We Represent You - Not the Insurance Company

Unlike captive insurance agents who represent Farmers Insurance, State Farm Insurance, and Allstate Insurance, we represent our homeowner association clients - the insured. Captive agents represent and are committed to their insurance company.

Ask a Farmers Agent-which policy is best?
Answer: Farmers

Ask a State Farm Agent - which policy is best?
Answer: State Farm

Ask an Allstate Agent-which policy is best?
Answer: Allstate

They cannot all be the best.

Licensing of Insurance Brokers and Agents

Insurance brokerage companies and agencies must be licensed and all brokers and agents working for their employer must have a license to sell insurance products. These licenses are issued by the California Department of Insurance. Company license numbers must be displayed on any company website or advertising material. If an insurance brokerage or agency is incorporated, it must be listed on the California Secretary of State website and the corporation must be in good standing which means it has not been suspended. Caution: Clients of Insurance Brokers-Agents

While it is always best for clients to pay insurance carriers directly, some carriers require that the insurance broker receive payment from the client and then the broker is to pay the carrier. This almost always works out satisfactorily. Unfortunately, there have been exceptions.

There have been instances where a few unethical insurance brokers have received a large check and have used the money for themselves. They then finance the policy, making payments to the carrier over 12 months. Clients are usually unaware of what the broker did. This is illegal, unethical, and obviously places the insured at risk.

Insureds are cautioned to verify that brokers who receive sizable checks pay the carrier upfront.

Statistic
There are approximately 342,000 people in the United States. One hundred percent of us are going to die. Only a small fraction of the population knows when they will die. According to available data, the total number of deaths in California each year averages 340,526 or 933 each day. This is 39 every hour.
