Voting to Require Self-certification of Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are always important, but they are especially important in condominium buildings where people live in close proximity to each other.
Recognizing that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are located inside individual units, the CC&Rs of most condominiums do not address the important roll these alarms play in saving the lives of multiple owners that can easily be affected by a fire or deadly carbon monoxide.
Consequently, many HOA boards are amending their association's CC&Rs to require self-certification at least annually where owners are required to provide the board or management company a Self-certification Statement.
